A New Year…

We rang in 2008 a bit differently than we would have in the past. Though better than last New Year’s Eve, (when I had contractions and went into preterm labor and putting me on bedrest), this year was still a bit rough. The night started out good enough: we went to dinner with my family as we usually do and then headed out to be with Tim’s family for fireworks. That’s when it started. Karys was so tired but was in pain from teething and was so fussy. She was so tired and would be almost asleep and then it was like a wave of pain came over her and she would scream. It was a horrible cycle and Tim finally said we were going to go home so she could rest in her own bed. Back home we went around 10pm. We laid her down – with Tylenol, Orajel, her pacifier and a blanket. Lots of fussing later, she finally falls asleep, much to our relief, right?

So how do Tim and I ring in 2008? Watching Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban :) I got all the books and DVD’s for Christmas from my family so we’ve been watching them. At midnight we did pause it to watch the ball drop, share our first kiss of the new year and then returned back to the movie to finish it.

As far as our little angel, she was up all night, as were we (mainly Tim) with medicine, diaper changes, etc. She was in so much pain with her teeth! Needless to say we were all tired the next morning and napped a lot the next day. Karys and I actually stayed in our PJ’s all of New Years Day. Ha! But during the night, all the little teeth popped through the gums, so now she has 4 up top and 2 down bottom. Hopefully this time she really DOES get a break before getting any more.

Last night was much better and she was able to sleep. Though she did wake up at 5:30am this morning playing in her bed and saying “uh oh” and laughing at herself. Hilarious to hear her in the monitor. Then she fell asleep until we walked her across the street :) I actually cried on the way to work this morning because after being with her all day, every day for almost 2 full weeks, I did not want to leave this child. She is such a joy and the biggest blessing to Tim & I. Sometimes I really wish I did not work and could be home with her all the time. Or at least part of the time. Maybe one day…

~ MY RESOLUTIONS ~

I never make *official* resolutions because, well let’s face it, who actually keeps their resolutions? But this year I thought there were things I could work on. Personal goals for myself that I have regardless of the new year upon us. So here goes…..

* Continue running and making it part of my lifestyle. I’m not “hating” it any more so that’s a good sign that this is one I can actually accomplish!

* Cook & Eat more healthy meals. The fact that Karys is eating “people food” now is a huge incentive for this because I do not want her taking in all the junk that Tim & I used to eat. I want her to be healthy and in turn, make all 3 of us more healthy!

* And in so running & eating healthy, to lose the excess married weight I’ve gained in the past 3.5 years. Or at least make it look better on me if it won’t go away all the way! Haha!

* To *possibly* start working on giving Karys a little brother or sister later in the year. Haha! That should keep you all checking my blog! :)

* Get a few things done to the house: furniture, painting, wall hangings, etc. It’s feeling and looking more and more the way we want it to look & feel but we’ve got some more things we want to do to it still.

* And of course, to be the best wife and mother than I can possibly be. Because I love my family more than anything and they deserve nothing less than the very best!

I think these “resolutions” are very realistic at this point in my life, as many of them (not all of them) have already been started at the end of 2007. There are other things that I’d like to do also, but that’s a more private list that I’ll choose to keep to myself for now.
As my darling hubby said this morning…
THINGS WILL BE GREAT IN 2008!

Comments

  1. a *possible* new sibling for Karys?? how exciting! :)

  2. This is my first time visiting your blog. I love it!
You make such a beautiful family! You are all so gorgeous!
Good for you and the running. I took up running (my hubby runs marathons and has always loved running, but I always thought it was my own personal hell) after my 2nd baby. Wow! It really takes the weight off. If you keep pushing yourself you will really get to love it.
Great pics, and good luck with your resolutions. I really do like your site, and will be back to visit again.
    :)
    Happy New Year!

  3. Awesome goals..I’m sorry New Year’s wasn’t the best :(

  4. Sound like fun goals to me (which makes them a lot easier to keep)….sounds about like our New Years, without all the teeth!

  5. “GREAT IN 2008” WHAT A CUTIE. I THINK THIS WILL BE A GOOD YEAR. LAST YEAR HAD ITS ROUGH PATCHES BUT THAT IS WHAT MAKES ME APPRECIATE THE LITTLE GOOD THINGS IN MY LIFE. LOOKS LIKE YOU HAVE THINGS FIGURED OUT. I WILL BE AWAITING THE POSTING THAT SAYS YOU WILL HAVE ANOTHER ADDITION TO THE FAM. TOO EXCITING. HAPPY NEW YEAR.

  6. Just give her a sibling already! Now that that the little beauty is on the move, she needs someone to chase around when you’re too sore from “all that running” you’ll be doing.
