Bright Lights, Big Ass

After reading Jen Lancaster’s first novel, Bitter is the New Black, I took a break to re-read my beloved HP series.

My mother-in-law just finished Jen’s second book, Bright Lights, Big Ass, and brought it over for me last night. I started it yesterday during lunch and while I am not yet very far, I was already laughing out loud again as I had done while reading her first book. I don’t know that I laugh because I can relate to her or because I am at a loss for words with some of the things she says and does – or both! But these are such great girl reads and 100% entertaining! I would definitely recommend the read if you are looking for a great book. Beware though – they are addicting!

She has also penned a third book, Such a Pretty Fat, which is due to come out this May 2008. This one will for sure be on my shopping list!

  1. I started Bitter is the New Black last night – so far so good! I’m not very far – but I can tell I like it! Thanks for giving me something that will take me off my HP kick (for a while – but I’m not giving up my Muggle Mondays just yet!)

  2. You should read Straight up and dirty by stephanie klein. Its about a 29 yr old woman getting divorced and getting back into the dating scene. It’s pretty funny! I’m almost done with it and I love it!

  3. I loved them both, too! So easy to read and ridiculously funny (even if I can’t relate to it all).

I’ve heard Stephanie Klein is pretty funny, too. I know she has a blog, but I don’t know the address….I’ll investigate.

  4. Maybe that would get me into reading…I never read. Maybe I’ll try it!!!

  5. I like to laugh..my other book, The Almost Moon has been a challenge for me to read. I just can’t get into it. Maybe a comedy will get me out of my readers block.

  6. The new Sophie Kinsella comes out Tuesday. LOOKS amazing. I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of the first four chapters. Typical Sophie. Wonderful!

  7. I’ve been looking for a new book to read..I just might have to go buy one of these this weekend! Thanks for recommendations! I’ll let you know what I get! Have a good weekend!

  8. Never heard of them but always on the lookout for a new interesting read so will keep an eye out

  9. My SIL read Bitter is the New Black and said it is hilarious! I might just have to check it out!

  10. thanks for the heads up. I’m always on the search for new authors and great books.
