Hurricane Ike

I updated my family blog yesterday with our story and some videos. All in all, we survived the storm and were very blessed to have no damage to our home. We were also very blessed to have only been without power for 2.5 hours. Much of our city is still without power and may continue to be without power until sometime around October 5th.

I shudder to think if this had been a Category 4 or 5 storm when a Category 2 did this much damage to our coast and our great city.

My heart goes out to the victims and people who did not fair as well as we did. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I just wanted to do a quick update here in addition to the family blog since many of you have called, texted or emailed me asking if we are okay in the days since the storm.

I want to thank you all for thinking of us and checking in on me. You are some of the best friends I could ever ask for!

As for me, I made sure I had my hurricane essentials as well:

Reading & drinking material in the event we lost other resources:
A Hurricane Drink – it seemed only appropriate:
A Small Hurricane Party with Family:
And of course, Miss Karys playing outside before the storm:

  24. is it a texas thing?? or do all states stock up on the booze before a storm that is dangerous? i went to wal-mart the evening before and they were almost sold out of beer! yes, i was able to get some, but do you think drunk texans help in a disaster situation??? we’re more friendly, of course it helps!
