The Scale Broke

The batteries in my scale went out about a month ago. Before that, I would weigh almost daily so that I would know when I needed to lay off the chocolate or when I could afford to indulge just a bit. It kept me in check.

Yesterday we put the batteries back in the scale. I stepped on. And promptly had visions of throwing my scale out the bathroom window.

So now I am forced to do something.

Today I joined Weight Watchers at work with some friends of mine.

I weighed in. It said I weighed more than I did at home! Again, thoughts of flying scales went through my head.

So, I’m on a 17 week venture with Weight Watchers to reach my goal weight – which is currently 17 lbs away. This would be the weight I was when I first got pregnant with Karys over 2 years ago.

I have never done Weight Watchers before so I am not really sure what to expect.

I’m also starting to try to run again – like I did last Fall. I think I gave up on it too soon. I have a habit of giving up on exercise programs.

Regardless, I cannot gain any more weight.

It must come off.

  2. I’m on WW too. It is the ONLY thing that has EVER worked for me. I lost 30 lbs and have kep it off since last October!! Now my goal is to lose 10 more before Melissas wedding in January!!

  4. I did WW starting in June and I lost 13.5 lbs. in 2 months!! It TOTALLY works!! But then I stopped doing it and gained almost all the weight back. Not fun.

    But just stick to it and you can definitely lose that 17 lbs.!! Good luck!!! :)

  5. Well good for you! I think that is awesome. And with running you will really see the weight come off. My SIL did WW and started running and she lost 40 lbs and has kept it off for about 2 years now. So good.

    Just remember to start slowly with the running. You will have good days and bad days but if you stick with it a month you will really start to enjoy it. :)

  9. I had really good luck with WW before my wedding. I lost 23 pounds in 3 months. I was the smallest I hav ever been! I plan on joining again after Madi arrives.

  10. The concept is a good one. Bottom line is – calories in (eating) < calories out (activity) = weight loss…

    What I use is halfing normal portions, then deciding whether I am still really hungry. Also, choosing better foods to eat, eliminating processed stuff, substituting fresh fruits, vegs & whole grains. Cutting out in-between meal snacking and sweets to a minimum…

    But then, I go on and off from time to time, so I am not really consistent…

  16. Good Luck with your new goal hun. Just try and have fun with running or working out. If can get a cheap gym membership, take wkout classes so you get a variety. 17 pds is very attainable and I cant wait to see the post that says you hit your goal :)

  17. I’m doing weight watchers now, too, so email me if you want some good recipes! Of course, I’ve only lost 5 pounds in about 7 weeks. I’ll lose and then not log everything I eat the next week and gain. Of course, a vacation in the middle of all that didn’t help, either. Exercise is the key I’ve discovered. When I did WW before I got pregnant with my third, I lost 7 pounds in 3 weeks because I was pushing a double stroller and going uphill. It was awesome. Exercise with three kids I’ve discovered is next to impossible, especially if your hubby comes home late and your youngest still isn’t sleeping through the night!!!

  23. Good luck Stephanie! I don’t ever get on scales, I don’t want to know. When I have to lay on the bed to zip my jeans up, then I know it’s time to start working out again. Like yesterday.

  24. The husband did WW two years ago and lost 65 pounds. It worked for him because he was still able to eat what he wanted, he just had to be mindful of how much he ate.

    You can do it. I know you can!!

  27. For me (a big guy) it’s always been about portion control. I’m just ALWAYS HUNGRY! I’ve thought about doing Nutri system, but money’s tight right now so I guess that’s out.

    I have started running in the past year. I am going to run a 1/2 marathon in November. My goal is to make it across the finish line…with a smile on my face!!

    I want to do WW and lose about 10 pounds. If I REALLY was crazy I would go for another 10 but hubby said I would be too skinny.
    I am trying to work out as well. That is the hardest part! Trying to find a few minutes to work out in an already jam packed day!

  32. I will give you my secret weapon….the scale from Ikea. At 5.99 it may not be the most accurate-but hey nobody is weighing in for a boxing match, right? And if I think I weight that much, then I do.
