That Time I Hit A Bus

Oh, right. That was TODAY!

Yep, you read that right, I hit a Metro bus today. In my Brand. New. Car.

In my defense, the buses in Downtown Houston are terrible drivers and will run you off the road. And also it was really foggy this morning, though that actually didn’t play into this incident whatsoever.

Of course, I didn’t even KNOW I hit a bus. My friend, Julie, was carpooling with me this morning and she so eloquently pointed it out to me in a conversation that went something like this:

Julie (exclaims in high pitched voice): “You just hit that bus!”
Me: “Ummmm, I totally did not just hit that bus.”
Julie: “Did you not hear the loud noise?!”
Me: “I just ran over a pothole or something.”
Julie: “Your side-view mirror is pushed in!”
Me: “I probably hit a bird. I’ve hit birds before.”

At one point she tells me that she kept thinking to herself that I was going to hit the bus. Good thing she didn’t feel the need to, I don’t know…VERBALIZE THAT THOUGHT?!

She did point out that the bus decided to come out into traffic regardless of the cars already driving on the road. And that our side-view mirrors hit each other in the process. So again, not really my fault.

At the end of the day, it’s all good though. She pushed my mirror back into place and there isn’t even a scuff on it.

And no, I didn’t mention any of this to my husband. Seriously, what kind of wife would I be if I purposely stressed him out?? Stress causes all sorts of damage to the body. So really, if you think about it, I’m saving his health. He’s so lucky to have me to look out for his health and well-being.
